Enroll a Child |
|
1. Contact the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) office at 248-2229 and set up an appointment with our enrollment personnel. 2. Meet with BBBS staff member to tell us about your child. 3. BBBS arranges a meeting at which you and the volunteer mentor have the opportunity to meet. This all takes place before the volunteer ever meets your child. If you feel comfortable after meeting the volunteer, your child will be invited to the next appointment. 4. The volunteer and the child are introduced, and go on their first outing. This is a short “getting to know you” outing lasting approximately twenty minutes.
How do I know my child is safe with the volunteer? Big Brothers Big Sisters is committed to child safety. Each volunteer undergoes a criminal background check and provides three personal references. Each month, a BBBS staff member corresponds with all parties to make sure things are going well. Parents are encouraged to communicate openly with their children, volunteer, and staff at BBBS.
How much time does the volunteer spend with my child? We ask that the volunteer spend one to two hours a week with your child, or more if all parties agree. We hope that matches develop into long-lasting friendships.
What cost is involved? There is no cost for enrolling your child in our program. Some outings may cost money. To assist you, we have established a two-for-one program with some supportive area businesses where the Big pays and the Little is allowed to participate at no cost.
Why am I waiting? We have no idea! Contact us today! 248-2229 |
